To improve the livelihood of farmers, Foresight Engineering implemented a two-phase Sustainable Agriculture Water Management Project, where 10,000 solar powered, drip irrigation systems were established across the island. The SAWMP kits which included solar powered pumps and water drip pipe systems were fitted near agro wells for a steady water supply management system to suit agricultural purposes. Through this program, farmers with access to a water resource, preferably with a pumping capacity of 6000 litres of water a day, were able to install this system on their land.
Our project which aimed at sustainable development in the agriculture industry, combatted the low water supply in drought-affected agricultural lands with modern and sustainable equipment.
This project was backed by BP Solar (Pvt) Limited, Australia.
Built to aid an increase in crop production and agricultural productivity in areas where water is scarce.
Phase 1 & 2 of the project was completed by April 2011
