Two new fire stations in Chilaw and Trincomalee were built and fitted with fire/rescue equipment, vehicles and control rooms were fitted with VHF radio communication, computers, etc. This project was implemented following the success from the first phase of the project which aimed to improve communication in disaster management. Foresight Engineering proceeded to further develop and provide additional facilities from call centres and control rooms to equipment and emergency transport vehicles across the country.
Foresight Engineering aimed at upgrading and establishing a stronger emergency communication and fire and rescue system in Sri Lanka to better aid the country.
These projects were backed by International Center for Emergency Techniques, Netherlands
Emergency fire/rescue transport vehicles, fire stations, early warning towers and more were installed in key areas around the country to better manage disasters in fire and rescue operations.
The project was completed by November 2013.
