The Disaster Management Communication and Response Capacity Development consisted of setting up a 24×7 Call Center and Emergency Operations Center to improve the communication of disasters. To further develop and improve the systems, 50 Early Warning Towers with satellite and radio communication with EOC were erected. In addition, communication/equipment and transport vehicles for 10 DDMCUs were provided to support this development. Foresight Engineering also provided technical assistance and capacity building around the Early Warning Towers/DDMCUs.
Further, HF/VHF radio communication & VSAT communication for the DMC to communicate with the Disaster Management Coordinating Units were installed.
These projects were backed by International Center for Emergency Techniques, Netherlands
Early warning towers, communication equipment and transport vehicles were fitted to improve disaster communication management.
The project was completed by November 2011.
